The quick read: The world's best figure skaters are coming to Prospera Place. Skate Canada International runs October 30 to November 1 in Kelowna, the second stop on the ISU Grand Prix, with men's, women's, pairs and ice dance competitions, a free outdoor Skate Fest for families, and single-session tickets from 30 dollars.
Kelowna is about to host the world again.
Skate Canada International runs October 30 to November 1, 2026, at Prospera Place in Kelowna, according to Skate Canada.
It is the second competition on the annual ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix, where top athletes from Canada and around the world skate for a place in the Grand Prix Final.
Who to watch
The Canadian entries include Madeline Schizas, Sara-Maude Dupuis and Fée Ann Landry in the women's event, and Wesley Chiu, Stephen Gogolev and David Bondar in the men's event.
In pairs, Canada is represented by Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud, Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov, and Miyu Yunoki and Tristan Taylor.
In ice dance, Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac, Alyssa Robinson and Jacob Portz, and Layla Veillon and Alexander Brandys wear the maple leaf.
The international field is stacked, with American Isabeau Levito and Japan's Mao Shimada among the women's entries, Japan's Kazuki Tomono in the men's event, and Great Britain's Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson in ice dance.
That is the kind of field that usually requires a flight and a hotel in a much bigger city, and next week it is right here in the Okanagan.
Tickets and Skate Fest
Single-session ticket prices listed by Skate Canada are 75 dollars for P1, 65 dollars for P2, 50 dollars for P3 and 30 dollars for P4, plus taxes and fees.
Families on a budget should note the free part, too.
Skate Fest, the outdoor fan festival, runs Friday, October 30, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with live music, Halloween crafts and treats, games and activities for kids, food and drink options, and local vendors.
Skate Canada is also selling exclusive event merchandise inspired by Kelowna, with mountain-inspired designs and west coast styles.
Why it matters for Kelowna
Big events at Prospera Place do more than fill seats for a weekend.
They fill restaurants, hotels and shops, they give local kids a chance to see world-class athletes up close, and they put Kelowna on television screens around the world as a place that can host the best.
That is the payoff for investing in a venue like Prospera Place and for the volunteers and local organizers who make these weeks work.
Full schedule, ticket and volunteer information is available through Skate Canada's event page for the 2026 Skate Canada International.
